What does your life testify to?

The Scriptures testify about Jesus. What does that mean?

“You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me; and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life.” John 5:39-40 (NASB)

The Scriptures testify about Jesus. What does that even mean? The word testify means to “make a statement based on evidence or proof” or “to give evidence.” Let’s take another look at my first sentence but this time replace the word testify with its definition. The Scriptures make a statement based on evidence or proof about Jesus. In essence, as we read through the Bible, it will continuously show us who Jesus is which will help us understand how we are to live our lives to the fullest.

Unfortunately, as Jesus points out, many search for eternal life and joy but look right past the truth. Many are unwilling to trust the only source. The question is whether or not you believe Jesus is who He say’s He is. If you do believe in Jesus, what are you doing about it? This knowledge is too great to keep to ourselves. Are you studying His words to have an even better understanding of His calling on your life? As you “search the Scriptures,” you will start having your questions answered. This will equip you to to help your neighbors better understand their purpose in Christ.

Perhaps your neighbor is one who is “unwilling to come.” Pray for them and show them the love and mercy that God has shown us through His Son Jesus. Maybe you are that person who is “unwilling to come.” I would love to spend time showing you the truths the Bible offers.
